Strong prices were realized for in all areas of 20th century painting and American Modernism and eight auction records were set, including a record for Ben Shahn’s Hamilton Fish Park, which fetched $158,500, against a high estimate of $35,000. We were also pleased with the strong results achieved for examples of American sculpture including world record prices for Max Weber’s ‘Figure in Rotation’, which sold for $218,500, and Arthur Lee’s Volupté, which achieved $92,500 against a high estimate of $18,000.
